Given in Bhaktivedanta Academy, Sridham Mayapur, September 2010-April 2011

The following are lecture notes briefly delineating its contents.

  • 6:20 Everything is within Krishna, but He as a person is not interested in the materialistic living entities. Krishna is always interested in the living entities, but they don't exchange it.
  • Krishna is simultaneously there and not there as a person, depending on our desire to see Him.
  • If we are not envious, we can accommodate contradictions - that all living beings are in Krishna, but He is still separate.
  • Living entities are always serving the Lord, directly of indirectly. But their independence is to choose between the two.
  • Indirect engaged in Krishna's service is nice, but still there is something beyond
  • Even though we are dealing with the indirect, we can still directly see the Lord as a person. Prahlada Maharaja is seeing the Lord directly in the pillar.
  • So many Lactobacillus may be inside us, but we have no interest and no relationship with them.
  • 20:00 The Lord is unattached, He doesn't deal with the material energy, but still how is it that everything is happening?
  • Acharyas bring out subtle points in the philosophy, so that the proper application may be brought out.
  • The Lord is unchanging, His energies are transforming, but those transformations are still within His nature
  • Brahma creates Adhibhuta in his secondary creation, but all forms are already manifested by the Lord in the Adhidaiva, Universal form. The primary creation is described in the Purusha Sukta.
  • First generations created by Brahma are humans, then in 3 generations come all 8,400,000 species of life
  • 28:20 Calculation of tithis. Movements of sun and moon.
  • 30:15 Sages involved in the sacrifice described in the Purusha Sukta are Lord's eternal associates before the creation - Narada, Hanuman, Garuda. They are the associates of Garbhodakashayi Vishnu. Demigods are based on them.
  • 32:20 Universal form is combination between Garbhodakashayi Vishnu (attractiveness) and Kshirodakashayi Vishnu (drive to be involved, therefore He sanctions). If we just appreciate the Lord in Brahman aspect, therefore no need of sanction, but when there is a desire to be involved, Paramatma sanctions. Vasudeva, Lord performing pastimes, establishes the proper platform of Lord interacting with His devotees.
  • 38:00 If we are insulted somewhere, we don't go there
  • 39:30 Out of His kindness Lord creates environment for souls who envy Him. But they themselves are responsible for their actions.
  • Pradhana, or mahat-tattva is Brahman impregnated by the glance of the Lord.
  • 42:20 Soul is affected by things happening in the material world just like watching a drama
  • 44:00 Good and bad are based on what's good for devotional service
  • 47:45 Only Vaishnavas are pure monists.
  • 55:00 Impersonalist philosophy is not actually consistent philosopy, it's simply moving from one mental concoction to the next. Prabhupada, when preaching, would make a person stick to a certain point and then discuss on that.
  • Demons may be very nice and refined, but their mentality is the real problem.
Even if they display nice qualities, we get contaminated if we associate with them closely.
  • By preaching, by seeing demons in their actual position, one does not get contaminated by association.
  • 68:45 Ethics and dharma. Difference and connection between dharma and niti. Yudhshtira and Duryodhana
  • Dharma, artha and kama should be balanced.
  • 80:00 Those who do not accept Krishna's form are defeated in all their attempts
  • 84:15 What does it mean that someone has Rakshasa gana in their chart
  • 89:00 Krishna is present in all aspects of the creation, but it does not carry the same sweetness as Krishna's two-armed form in Vraja
  • 90:00 The mood is the most important thing one gains from the spiritual master, because that determines where we go in the spiritual world
Ugra karma is all karma that is not connected to Krishna - activities may be nice, but the mood is wrong
  • 93:30 Being with Krishna includes all other forms of liberation. To worship in opulence, it is acceptable that all devotees have the same form as the Lord, but to worship Him in sweetness, there have to be differences, but still they match like in a dinner set.
