About This Course
These lectures on the Vedic Literature constitute one of the Śāstra Cakṣus Precursor courses of the Bhaktivedanta Theological Seminary. In this short course H.H. Bhaktividyā Pūrṇa Mahārāja discusses the origin and history of the Vedic literatures, their various divisions and classifications, and the contents and purpose of each part. He emphasizes the importance for the Hare Kṛṣṇa devotees to maintain full faith in the scriptures and their explanations as given to us by Śrīla Prabhupāda and the previous Ācāryas. All parts of the material world, including New York and London, are created and permeated by the potencies of the Supreme Personality of Godhead Kṛṣṇa. The Vedas are given by Him as a user’s manual for this world, and therefore there is no question that the injunctions of the scriptures do not apply to the people in this age. Mahārāja highlights Śrīla Prabhupāda’s brilliant knowledge of language, warns of the dangers of disregarding Śrīla Prabhupāda on the basis of mundane considerations and discusses the difference between bonafide editing and whimsical changing of Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books.
