HH BVPS Maharaja: So, according to his position then They did it in that way.
Reading from Bhaktivedanta Academy Study guide: “Srila Jiva Goswami elaborates: ‘Balarama was the knower of Vaishnava dharma, how to treat devotees, He knew how to welcome the devotees. It was the Dvadasi, time for breaking the fast, and especially Vaishnavas should be properly respected at that time. Balarama acted to teach the common people. He made Akrura pleased.'”
Question: Why women need protection on all levels? Why do they need to develop those qualities, chastity and satisfaction? How are those two connected?
HH BVPS Maharaja: Okay, the element is that because the feminine nature represents the, or has the qualities of, variety, so that aspect of variety then is going to mean that there will be a need for expressing that variety. And so then you have what’s appropriate to do and what’s not appropriate to do. But how do you stay within what’s appropriate? That’s what the aspect of protection is. So Srila Prabhupada in the 1960, then he envisioned this program of having a study, a systematic study of his books, going through the Bhagavad-gita, Nectar of Devotion, Isopanisad, Upadesamrta, as the fundamental course, the basis, because all the instructions are given in these books. Then Bhagavatam expands that out, gives more elaboration, and then Caitanya Caritamrta, then that gives how the Gaudiyas themselves apply these teachings that are there in the Gita, Nectar of Devotion and the Bhagavatam.
