10th May 2016 Lecture 2
  • The modes have nothing to do with the real nature of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
  • We have difficulty because we either don't see the world connected to the Lord, or we think everything is all right.
  • Krishna is in everything, but He is beyond. By His grace, trying to please Him He will be revealed.
  • Sankarshana is all the elements, Pradyumna holds them together, Aniruddha is result, Paramatma, ability to work comes from Pradyumna.
  • Even to understand the Lord as Brahman or Paramatma He has to reveal Himself.
 v. 1-22
  • There are recommended activities and recommended mental state for them.
  • Vaishnavas don't identify with their external duties, but still do them.
10th May 2016 Lecture 3
  •  It is highly unlikely that there is no vegetation on the Moon planet, since Moon governs all vegetation.
  • Begging is never meant to be an occupation.
  • When material gunas come up, we are actually meant to think about the philosophy.
  • Daksha created living entities within his mind, but that would have only been sufficient when he was still the son of Lord Brahma.
  • Prajapatis are all very pious, but they are very absorbed in their material duties.
  • Daksha was doing bhakti as an anga of karma. He sees the Lord only up to the level of Paramatma.
v. 23-42
  • The Lord is beyond the creation.
  • Prajapatis basically can understand the Lord up to the level of Paramatma.
  • We cannot understand how we are being perceived by the Lord.
  • Krishna is directing our senses therefore we can see the objects, but we are already being seen. According to our perception, we might see anything.
  • Krishna manifests the intelligence and the sense of the jivas.
  • None of the 24 elements is conscious, including the mind. We put our consciousness into it, then it functions the way it does.
  • We have to put our consciousness into spiritual intelligence.
  • Supersoul in tattva is the ashraya. In rasa, Lord is vishaya.
  • Energy in tattva is the ashraya of bhakti.
  • Impersonalists may know Brahman or Paramatma as the ashraya, but they don't know Him as a person.
  • Krishna creates attraction within the material energy, so that the shapes may even just stay together.
  • The 6 systems of philosophy, other than Vaishnava siddhanta, cannot understand Bhagavan.
  • We can find the Supersoul by chanting the Lord's glories.
  • Nobody can operate the mahat-tattva - so no one can get out of here except by the Lord's grace.
  • 27 elements include the modes of nature.
  • Variety in the material world produces misery. In the spiritual world it produces happiness.
  • By engaging in service we are drawing out the fire of Krishna consciousness that will destroy material consciousness.
  • Seeing the Lord in the mind is by His grace.
  • The Lord cannot be realized by words that are not favored by the Lord.
  • Using recommended forms with devotion pleases the Lord. By using recommended form we show that we have faith.
12th May 2016 Lecture 1
  • The Lord is all the different aspects of the creation, even the material world.
  • bhoktaram yajna-tapasam - prayojana
  • sarva-loka-mahesvaram - sambandha
  • suhrdam sarva-bhutanam - abhideya
  • Everything belongs to Krishna, so we have to deal with everything according to how He is a person. Krishna is the enjoyer of everything. He is the ultimate friend who makes all relationships work.
  • This is the real peace formula because at every step everyone has to consider Krishna - in relationship, process and results.
  • When Krishna gets things He shares them with those who see that relationship with Him.
  • Krishna is only asking us to do things that He does. Relationships happen on an equal level.
  • Surrender is very dynamic.
  • Sharing is Vedic, but specially Vaishnava tradition.
  • Serving prasada should be overseen by senior devotees.
  • Friendship has to be based on how Krishna likes it to be. If we are benefited by Krishna consciousness we share it with others.
  • Not understanding that there are rules for interaction is atheistic and whimsical.
  • From that one may progress to pious atheistic, then to pious theistic - bhakti-mishra-karma and -jnana.
  • Most of the universe is pious. Very few are either too dull to understand any rules, or too shameless to reject them.
  • Naradhamas in the lead always make trouble, since they only see themselves and how to take advantage of everyone.
  • Doing things properly on the Brahman platform gets good results, and then it can be used for pravrtti or nivrtti.
  • Paramatma level, duties can also be used for both, similarly the Bhagavan level.
  • 1) Everything is Krishna
  • 2) What am I supposed to do within that? (My duties in varnashrama). There may be situations where we are competent to run the mechanics, but it is not our duty.
  • 3) I see mechanics, I see duties, and I do that to please Krishna
  • 4) In this situation what can I do to serve?
  • There is only brahminical in the Vedic culture, but at a less advanced stage our varna flavors our ashrama. In a more advanced stage ashrama flavors varna.
  • Dvijas' gurukula training is how to be a dvija, human. Shudras' training is how to assist humans.
  • Brahmacharya makes all varnas and all other ashramas work. But shudras do not give it importance.
  • Although shudras are most attached to family life, it is not necessarily working great for them. But still it can work if there is the mod of service and submission.
  • If both husband and wife feel themselves supreme controllers, family life becomes very rough.
  • That brahmacharis are supposed to remain so eternally is made up by us, it is not the Vedic system.
  • A grihastha leading the temple and never being present there may contribute to brahmacharis being lazy.
  • If we want to attract sophisticated people we have to make our place more sophisticated according to Vedic standards.
  • Even grihasthas can apply brahmacharya principles in their life. Brahmacharya is mentality, brahminical is mentality.
  • Gurukula is training in what adults do. What one uses as an adult, one uses as a kid. Kids don't have a problem learning new things.
  • Applying the principles of brahmacharya things will work perfectly both in the house and outside. But one has to understand what brahmacharya is.
  • Scientists are only able to do things that are allowed within the Lord's laws.
  • With brahmacharya understanding one can be a paramahamsa even as a grihastha.
  • Sukadeva Gosvami saw the bathing girls as a part of Krishna's universal form.
  • The girls can tell who is a brahmachari.
  • The scientists are only good at physical sciences, but the metaphysical is so much higher, and spiritual is much higher than that.
  • Although in the spiritual world everyone agrees to serve Krishna, there is still unlimited variety. We take those options from the unlimited that are recommended by the acaryas. Although we could do anything we pick options as recommended by the tradition.
  • vada - thesis
  • prativada - antithesis
  • Devotees are actual scientists, since they can track things back to the original cause.
12th May 2016 Lecture 2
  • Religion is how philosophy applies to every thing and relationship in our life, applying tattva to objects.
  • Speculation is a problem. Otherwise, Krishna's creation is harmonious.
  • Scientists only work with the senses, they don't even really understand the sense objects, otherwise they could better interact with others.
  • Energy is utilizing attractiveness to please Krishna. If we take that separate from Him, that is lust. We cannot actually be happy because what we are attracted to is actually Krishna. We only get the prospect that we will be happy.
  • There are only superior qualities in the variety of the spiritual world, there is no darkness. In the material world we often see a lack of superior qualities.
  • Even philosophers who agree on one point criticize everyone else
  • Philosophy that there is no owner or controller is just convenient.
  • By the modes of nature everyone likes different situations and arrangements.
  • Materialistic philosophies do not give much importance to the Supreme, even if they accept Him.
  • Even metaphysics is called superfluous and external from the spiritual point of view, what to speak of other things.
  • For us there is no contradiction between the 6 systems of philosophy, because only Vaishnavas deal with rasa.
  • We do not see contradictions, but we have to see what is their point. They see different aspects of the same thing.
  • Everything is Brahman, but we are just interested in the Supreme Brahman.
  • Devotees should see the Lord in the universal form, but we do not worship Him there, that is more for the karmis.
  • Madhvacarya was stronger than Ramanujacarya, since he had to deal with duller people.
  • The more Bhagavatam progresses, the more connection with Bhagavan is brought in.
  • Neophyte devotees like Daksha may see things clearly in their moments of clarity.
  • Everybody is worshiping the Lord. Just as air carries aromas, the Lord appears through lower systems of worship, but He suppresses His own nature there.
  • When our main point is about Krishna as a person, we can even have a broader Brahman understanding.
  • One should not be studying more than one can absorb and use in Krishna's service.
  • People who say, 'There are so many opinions' are in the mode of passion, one can't tell right from wrong, therefore one is 'accommodating.'
  • In goodness we accept the authority of shastra, but still there are flavors of karma and jnana.
  • Madhvacarya often uses the term taratamya - 'transcendental', 'that which is beyond.'
  • Demigods change, but the Supreme Lord remains the same.
  • Tattvavadis take these explanations of adhama, madhyama and uttama and wrongly apply them to the soul. But actually it's talking about the consciousness.
  • Aghamarshana - one of the processes of Pancaratra, removing sin personified.
  • For Daksha, the Lord is only appearing to fulfill desires, so He only carries weapons.
  • Kaustubha gem is the sum total of all the jivas.
  • Energy of happiness always comes from Krishna. Our own ananda is very little, 1/3rd of us, or 1/30,000th the tip of the hair. When we engage sense objects for Krishna's pleasure with devotees, we share the unlimited happiness.
v. 43-54
  • Krishna wants to see the living entities expand, so that more people are engaged in devotional service.
  • The energy, material or spiritual, should be seen in connection with the Lord.
  • Here consciousness for being a preacher is introduced.
  • The Lord is encouraging Daksha in his service as Prajapati. He could become a pure devotee doing it, but he doesn't.
  • We call pure devotion, Vedic system, fanatic because we misapplied, or only applied externals, that didn't work, and then we rejected it.
  • We impose our own concepts unto real religion.
  • Preaching means, we preach pure devotional service, so that people in their position can apply it.
12th May 2016 Lecture 3
  • Krishna as a person is all-pervading, but His all pervading aspect is called Brahman.
  • We are the consciousness that pervades the body. We are limited by the body because we identify with it.
  • Beyond the cycle of karma, jnana and voidism is bhakti.
  • Everything comes from austerity. The austerity of performing our duties gets us the result.
  • It's the tapasya of doing our work.
  • The heart is actually purified by tapasya being done for Krishna.
  • Devotees by doing devotional service derive much greater results than karmis.
  • The quality of Svayambhuva Manu is guiding the mankind. The quality of Daksha is sex life.
  • Offenses in devotional service can only be removed by devotional service.
  • Daksha is doing what he is supposed to do in the universe, but not to please Krishna.
  • Material happiness is actually always misery, but we think that some sorts of misery are better.
  • Lord frees people from the material attraction by His sweetness.
  • The worshipable aspect of anybody else is due to their connection with the Lord.
  • Because of offense one is not interested in bhakti.
  • Daksha knows Lord is the only one who can give what is desired, but he does not want bhakti.
  • Offense keeps us from devotional service, but we have to keep good association and use our intelligence.
  • Sex in itself does not mean sense gratification.
  • When it says 'man and woman' it means the man should be doing what makes the woman happy.
  • Sex life is supposed to produce a child, so there should be full cooperation between husband and wife. In this way, it's about the relationship, not about sense gratification.
  • The modern concept of sex life is very limited because there is no emotions, no relationship, no depth.
13th May 2016 Lecture 1
  •  Whatever we experience here is material, unless it is endowed with cit potency.
  •  The Lord is only understood by His grace.
