Given in Bhaktivedanta Academy, Sridham Mayapur, September 2010-April 2011

The following are lecture notes briefly delineating its contents.

  • Prominent opulences means those which have the widest range of application in devotees' lives.
  • Krishna's opulences are everything that is important to us, but ultimately His opulences should remind us about Him as a person.

  • "Fine speech" is Sanskrit.
  • Why bother about all the different manifestations, if we can serve Krishna as a person?
  • 27:30 Jalpa is just saying nice things without conclusion
  • 29:45 Socrates
  • Mundane knowledge ends with conclusion, but spiritual knowledge begins with conclusion.
  • 32:30 Why Krishna is silence of secret things.
  • Uddipana - anything in our environment can inspire us to remember Lord.
  • 35:20 STARTING CH 11
  • Krishna makes all things happen anyway, but Arjuna wanted to see how that all is happening at once.
  • Krishna's sweetness does not impress the materialists, we did not come to the material world for sweetness, therefore His power and opulence need to be shown to convince them.
  • In Krishna's form of sweetness the display of power is not important.
  • 45:00 The Lord understands more of Himself through the devotional service of the devotees
  • 49:00 Smaller Universal Form was shown to Duryodhana
  • 51:20 Someone who gives bad advice will always be persistent, until your destruction.
  • Shakuni was actually enemy of Duryodhana
Story how he became his enemy.
  • 60:00 Niti and dharma in the dealings of Shakuni
  • 62:45 Why "divine eyes"?
  • 65:30 We can see more about Krishna through the Parampara, it is revealed
  • To see million faces, one can go to Kumbha-mela, but the universal form was overpowering
  • Eyes accustomed to the sweetness of Krishna could not perceive His universal form
  • 69:00 Mother Yashoda does not see how Krishna is grown up, so she allows gopis to bathe Him.
  • 78:30 Ratha-yatra is there because the vision of Vrajavasis and Dvaraka-vasis differ
  • 84:00 All living entities are interacting with Krishna's potencies, so they are actually engaged in the Sanatana dharma, but those who recognize it are devotees and those who don't are in illusion. It is as crazy as saying that one has cooked without a kitchen.
  • We have to remove illusion that we are doing something else than sanatana-dharma
  • 90:00 The Lord is the ultimate objective (goal)
But otherwise, He is the supreme subject, Radharani is the supreme object
  • 93:30 Fear comes from loss of identity.
